Global Fruit’s business concept is simple,
produce high quality consumption apples
that are consistent in size, shape, colour
and taste, in an environmentally conscious
manner and then market them to Ontario’s
most popular grocery chains. We have
taken steps to achieving this goal by
implementing the latest technologies such
as drip irrigation, custom chemical
reducing sprayers, precision planting
(guided by GPS), pre-sorting/grading and
by educating our labor force.
We have already planted over 1000 acres of orchard with approximately 1,175 trees per acre. As of May 2008, approximately 2.4 million trees were in various stages of in our orchards and nurseries across Ontario. We have acquired 2,800 acres of fertile orchard land in Beaver Valley, Woodstock and Arkona, for orchard use. Our goal for the first phase of planting is to plant 3,000 acres, which is 3.5 million trees over the next 5 years. Once a sufficient volume of apple production has been achieved, we will market our apples directly to the large retail chains and the export market. These retail chains are looking for large suppliers who have the ability to fulfil all of their apple needs.
