Planet

At Global Fruit the environment is our highest concern. We continually focus on reducing our environmental impact by designing and implementing new technologies. The introduction of a new spraying machine and spraying technique has enabled us to reduce chemical usage from 75-90% per kilo of apples produced in our orchards.

We are also helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by replacing imported apples, which in turn reduces transportation and fuel consumption.

Our management practices have resulted in drastic noise and water reductions in the orchards.

People

The people surrounding our organization are very important to us at Global Fruit. We strive to lead the industry in quality working conditions for our employees. We have designed a stress free work environment that minimizes the risk of injury and promotes safe working conditions.

We encourage eating apples as part of a healthy lifestyle and strive to educate children of the value of eating fresh produce. We have established a non-profit organization "Friends of Ontario Grown Apples" that promotes apple consumption and raises funds for an apple a day program for children in public schools.

We have continually given back to the community by creating the Global Fruit Education Fund. This fund is designed to help talented students with ever increasing tuition costs. We also participate in youth work programs that allow students interested in agriculture to come visit and work with us to gain a better understanding of the agricultural industry.

Global Fruit is a LOIS company, Locally Operated, Import Substitute that stimulates local rural economies.

Profit

Global Fruit has managed to make apple production profitable again in Ontario. We have done this by investing heavily in R&D, designing innovative equipment, building orchard infrastructure and implementing creative management practices. This has resulted in a tremendous increase in productivity and profitability for our organization. We are also continually searching for new and exciting apple varieties to bring to market. We are the first grower to bring the Red Prince apple to market in North America.
